Hello,

This is my first time investing in speakers and I am looking for recommendations for setup. I have a 65 inch LG C3 TV in my living room and the distance between the screen and the sofa where I usually watch TV is 4250 mm. This is an apartment and my living room is open with kitchen. The whole dimensions for the living room including kitchen should be 8200 mm length and 3600 breadth. I have attached the apartment layout picture for reference.

I recently, invested in an arc ultra and even though the sound is substantially better than TV, I feel this setup lacks a bit of oomph. The sound output from arc ultra feels flat with lack of bass and also the surround sound (dolby) feels non existent. Watching Peter Pee’s video, I am thinking of adding a sub mini to this setup for better bass output but is there anything I can do for better dolby surround sound ? I understand dolby sound works by bouncing off walls and in my case there is no wall on my right and the waves might have to travel all the way to the end of the kitchen. Any recommendations on how I can improve my setup ? Would adding ERA 100’s improve the whole setup ? Open to suggestions on how I can improve the home theatre experience in an open layout like this.

NOTE: Settings on my ARC ultra are default and have’t been customised.

If you have, or have access to, an appropriate IOS device, running a full Trueplay tune might make a difference, so that would be the first recommendation.
If you then add a Sub or Mini, plug it into a long power extension cable and try it in different locations in the room - even a small move in placement can make a big difference to the sound, so try it and find the best spot for the space.

With no surrounds you get no surround sound, you do get the best sound that can be done with just the Arc.

In that open room a Mini-Sub will be hard pressed to fill it, a full Sub would do a lot more.

100s behind the couch would give you surround sound but for Atmos the 300s would be a good deal better.
