I have an old player that I used to connect to my router via a Sonos bridge. This now does not work as it causes my internet to drop really low with the new bt router I have. What is the cheapest way to connect the playbar so I can play music on it. It is connected to my Sony Bravia TV.

Connect the Playbar (or any other non-surround speaker) to your router. Cost: the cable at the length required.
Just connect the Playbar to your router’s Wi-Fi. Zero cost.

No, you don’t need a device like the BRIDGE. You can hang your PLAYBAR directly off an appropriate WiFi signal, as suggested by

Sonos made it easy to connect your speakers to your WIFI without the need for a bridge years ago. The Bridge has been retired because of this and there is no need for it any longer. You can remove it from your network.
Not only was the BRIDGE retired, but also its replacement, the BOOST has been retired, in favor of a wireless connection to much more capable routers.
