Hey everyone. Is it still worth purchasing a used Connect-amp in 2021 I've bought a pair of Polk Atrium 4 for a small alfresco area but need an amp. Is there another option , other than the expensive Sonos Amp.  I do have other Sonos products around the house.

A Connect:Amp should work just fine. Just be sure to get a Connect:Amp (Gen 2) so it will work with the S2 app.

Unless the other products are on S1... and the older connect amp should be very cheap. And then, make sure it works and has not been bricked.

Yes, but if the other Sonos products are running on S2, you will need to have a split set up and won’t be able to play all as one group. If the other products are on S1, then this issue will not arise.

If the Serial number start 1610...would that be Gen 2?  Any way of finding out ( I haven’t bought it yet)

The Gen 2 was released sometime in 2015. 1610 means October 2016 which would mean it is a Gen 2.

I would not settle for a used S1 only speaker/amp at this point.  You might save a little bit of money, but you’re getting a device that is already 6 years old that can only be used on the frozen S1 system.  Spend a little more and at least get a Gen 2 Connect:Amp.  You’ll be able to use that on S1 (if that’s your current system) or S2, so a lot more years of good use.

Guys, unfortunately the seller sold the amp; however he does have another gen2 with a 2015 Aug manufacture date BUT it has the mute button instead of the pause. Does that seem likely ? (apologies if you have read this as a response to another topic)
