BEAM - what kind of HDMI

If you're going to use the optical adaptor, why are you looking for an hdmi cable and not an optical cable? But anyway, almost all hdmi cables these days would be compliant with current standards these days. Pretty sure anything that says 2.0 would be fine. However, I would use optical cables instead...unless you are thinking of eventually replacing the projector with something that has hdmi ARC.

Hi! Thanks for reply! I can't use optical cable because Beam doesn't have optical input. Just a short adapter: female HDMI to male optical.
Anyways: I found "Standard Speed HDMI cable with ethernet". I don't know if it's 2.0 but it's white and has perfect length. Would it be fine for DD sound from my ps4?

Ah, I had assumed the toggle worked differently. Hadn't seen it yet myself. Anyway, I wouldn't trust that cable if it doesn't say it's 2.0 or mention ARC in the description.

Although it's exactly 40ft, you might want a little longer to be sure.

You could also do it with a short hdmi cable -> Sonos provided adapter, toslink coupler, and long length optical cable....

That's a little more complicated, but cheaper in cost overall. Given the nature of the adapter Sonos provides, and that the hdmi cable would be useful if I ever upgrade the projector to something with hdmi ARC, I'd probably go with the long length hdmi cable despite extra cost.

since it is not doing any passthrough of 4k, all you need is hdmi 1.4 for the ARC function

Seems like a good alternative. In the shorter lengths, AmazonBasics HDMI cables are some of the best values from a reputable source. I have to admit I've never had the need for a 25+ft HDMI cable, so haven't done much pricing in that length 🙂

It sounds like a very good idea! My only concern would be the sound quality in that case. Don't you think that that many connections would affect sound quality? If not, it would be much better solution for me.

Also: In the future - if I would replace projector with TV (-don't think I would anyway), it wouldn't be on the other side of the room (like projector) so hdmi of that lenght would be pointless in my case.

HDMI and optical are both digital, so there shouldn't be any difference between the two.
