I have an old Pioneer that is plugged into the Sonos Connect Amp. The sound is that of one that needs a preamp. The speakers are Kenwood floor speakers.

I bought this thinking it would be an amplifier.
Sadly, not.

When I bought it, the guy threw in a Sonos Connect Receiver and a Connect Bridge.

You are confusing terms here.  A Connect:Amp is indeed an amplifier, and can be used to power passive speakers.  However, a turntable needs a phono pre-amp, either internal or external, connected to the Line-In level input on the Connect:Amp.  A phono pre-amp takes the phono level RIAA equalization on a record and converts it to Line-Level.

Thank you for the reply.

So all that weight is just to power speakers?
They sound great when I run Sonos Radio!

I’ll look into a preamp but will continue to use my independent Kenwood system in the meantime.

As for the spare Connect, can I use it as CD input and add it to the S1 system?

I also have an S2 system (Playbar and two Play 3s)

A CD player can be directly plugged into a Connect.
