Turntable to Hybrid Sonos?

Long time Sonos Customer - Back to the days before even ZoneBridge, Circa 2008. Over the years system has expanded into a hybrid of Old School + New Age.

Old School - Zone Amp (ZA) and Zone Connect (ZC) wired to Stereo Amp & Speakers.
New Age - Beam Gen 2 and Play 1.
Each half works great in their own right controlled by old/new Sonos Apps

How best to add Turntable (TT) with integrated preamp. House setup dictates connection to ZA. Not interested in Bluetooth TT model. Goal is high quality audio to all devices, specifically Play 1. Overall Sonos configuration - Three different rooms with ZA/TT in Room1, Beam & ZC/Stereo in Room2, Play1 in Room3. (Might be persuaded to add inexpensive Sonos portable speaker such as Roam 2 (w/BT) if helps meet goals)

Also wondering, any way to stream Sonos "sources" directly on Android phone (running Sonos App) for listening through wired headphones?

Finally, probably discussed ad nauseam and futile but would be really great to "integrate" Old w/New without upgrade of working fine equipment which would be costly even with trade-in allowances. Approaching $1k.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi @Bo33b

Thanks for your post!

The only way you could have one turntable play on both a S1 Sonos system and a S2 Sonos system at the same time would be by splitting the audio feed before it reaches any Sonos device, and input it to a Line-In on each system. You would need RCA splitters to do this, and it would likely result in a quieter signal reaching Sonos. I’d recommend splitting after the pre-amp stage if I recommended doing this at all, which I don’t - as the analogue signal is being digitised twice in parallel, I don’t think we can guarantee millisecond-perfect synchronisation.

As it stands with your current equipment, this is not possible for your S2 system - the cheapest option would be adding an Era 100 to the S2 system, and using a line-in adaptor with it (or finding a second-hand speaker/Port/Connect with Line-in).

This is not currently possible, no.

It would be so great that if it were at all possible, we’d have already done it. This will not be happening, I’m afraid.

I hope this helps.

@Bo33b

I completely agree with Corry. I just would think about a turntable rca switch solution for using the tt alternatively on the s1 or s2 system, but definitely not for parallel usage.

Corry, Thanks for the reply.

Just so I’m clear - The Sonos Era/Adpater solution you suggest adds the Turtable into the New Age (S2) half of my setup for streaming to Play1?  BUT then would remove TT access to main ZC/Stereo because again Old S1 does NOT talk to New S2… Right? (And the “adpater” approach seems counter to best audio)

So frustrating, I remember Sonos back in the day, when things just plain worked and I recommended to everyone. Now it seems the Old vs New division continues to cause headaches for loyal Customers. Yes, I know there is an uprade path and that progress happens. But somehow overall this just doesn’t seem right…
