Hi folks,

I have a project turntable (no pre amp) connected to a Cyrus 1 hifi amp. With traditional wired speakers it works great but how do I connect 2 paired era 300’s. I have the Sonos connector cable from one speaker but where do I connect it to the amp? Thank you

You’ll need a preamp in the system. Then use a stereo cable from preamp to the Sonos adaptor into either of your Eras - they will separate the left and right signals automatically.

Edited to add:

Sorry - I missed “connect to the amp” and answered for connecting to the turntable.

If the amp has a an RCA connection labelled “out”, I’d use that. You’d need an RCA to 3.5mm cable to connect it to the Sonos line in adapter. Remember you will experience a 75mm delay on the Era speakers.

If your Era 300s are in the same room as your other audio equipment, connecting the 300s to the Cyrus 1 you will notice a 75ms delay. This because there is some processing that has to be done within the Sonos speakers before you can hear the audio. The delay will be less noticeable if the speakers are in different rooms. This will make listening to any audio difficult unless you mute either setup, allowing just one to play.

A way around this would be to place the Era 300s in another room and purchase a Port that you can connect to the Cyrus 1. This will allow you to stream what ever you play on the Cyrus system to the 300s, AND stream what ever you play on the 300s to the Cyrus setup.

That Amp has a Tape out which would work perfectly 😎

I agree this would be the easiest way. Just in case the Eras or any other Sonos room should play in sync with the amp speakers a Sonos Port will be needed and the amp must have a pre out or must be used in combination with an external pre amp.

Cheers All for taking the time to reply. Got it working to a degree. RCA to 3.5 mm to tape output on Cyrus. Distortion is dreadful though. Maybe because my RCA cable ain’t Sonos (I had one in my “spares box!)

ps I just wanted it to play 2 speaker stereo so delay issue doesn’t matter.

I’ll persevere. Thanks again All.

It must be a stereo 3.5mm to dual RCA cable. And, make sure that the turntable does not include a phono preamp if you are using the Phono input of the amplifier. You could try one of the other amplifier inputs.

Check the Source Level setting:

Got it up and running, guys. New RCA to 3.5 cable (think my old one was an issue) and hey presto. Now I can hear the scratches on my vinyl perfectly.

once again thanks for every answer.
