I have recently got a turntable and 2 era 100s.

I wanted to connect them both through line in (turntable has 2 output cables, left and right output) so have got all the necessary adapters and plugged them both in.

However, when the era 100s are set up as a “stereo pair” on the sonos app only the left speaker produces sound when playing from the turntable. This occurs even when switching the cables around, only the left one works, yet the volume can be controlled by either (since they are a “stereo pair”). The right one only works if i disconnect power from the left, in which case the right one works perfectly. Therefore i know there is no cabling issue between speakers and turntable.

Despite this, playing music through a streaming service to the “stereo pair” works perfectly.

Although if the speakers are NOT set up as a “stereo pair” on the sonos app and are just 2 standalone speakers, connecting via the 2 line in cables from the turntable works perfectly with sound produced from both speakers in stereo, though playing music from a streaming service then will not be stereo (i believe).

Is there any way to ensure that sound is produced from both speakers through 2 line in cables to the turntable, whilst having the era 100s set up as a “stereo pair” on the sonos app?

If you want to use them as a stereo pair I believe you need to connect BOTH audio channels to one of the Sonos, otherwise all you are providing to the Sonos system is a single audio channel.

If you must connect the right and left to individual Sonos then you need to remove the Pairing and treat them as independent speakers, each playing the attached audio source. No idea why one would do this or if it would even sound decent.

Once you’ve done as @Stanley_4 suggests, which may need a “two-into-one” adaptor for the cables, you will then have a second stereo line-in available through the other speaker in your stereo pair.

Use a 3.5mm to stereo RCA adapter to connect the turntable to an ERA 100. The turntable can then be played in any combination of SONOS “Rooms”. Note that this “Line-In” is simply a stereo audio source on the network, it will not automatically play on the speaker hosting the turntable. Also note that Line-In is disabled when the ERA 100 is used as a surround speaker.

okay thanks for your advice i have a 2-into-1 adapter coming today and will try this out

The issue is that Sonos stereo pairs only accept one line-in source, usually from the left speaker in the pair. When you connect left and right RCA outputs separately to each speaker, only the left one works because it's handling the line-in.
Quick fix:
Use a single stereo RCA-to-3.5mm cable
Plug both RCA outputs from your turntable into one Sonos line-in adapter
Connect the adapter to the left speaker in your stereo pair

This way, the stereo signal goes into one speaker, and Sonos splits the audio correctly between both speakers.

Moderator edit: This post is possibly AI written. It is largely correct however, except in that a right speaker of a pair can accept line-in too.

I don't use the line-in here but I was under the impression that you could connect a line-in to  oth speakers in a stereo Pair and then select either as your music source.

Hopefully so eone with more direct experience can clarify this.

You need to connect the turntable to one speaker using a SONOS USB input adapter. The adapter has a 3.5mm stereo female connector. This Line-In is available to be played in any combination of SONOS Rooms. Note that the Line-In is not automatically played through any Room, it must be selected in each Room or as the source for a Group.

Make sure that the 3.5mm stereo plug is fully seated in the jack. A common issue is that the plug is partially inserted and only one channel plays.
