Set up question - incorporating turntable and 2 Era 100s to existing system

I have a simple home theatre setup consisting of a Beam Gen 2 and a pair of Symfonisk speakers which I’m happy with for TV and music streaming. Now I’m thinking of adding a pair of Era 100s connected to a turntable to replace my old analog HiFi setup.

My question is how will the Era 100s interface with the existing setup? I’m planning to position the Era 100s as a traditional stereo pair in front of the listening position and was wondering if the turntable input to the Eras could also play through the Beam and the Symfonisk speakers simultaneously?

Also, would the Era 100s be able to ‘join’ the existing home theatre setup not as surrounds (I’d still use the Symfonisk pair for surround sound), but as front left and right speakers either side of the Beam?

Finally, when streaming music, can the Beam, Symfonisk and Era 100s work together simultaneously?

The 100 would play the left and right channels, but so would the Beam. In sync for music, slightly delayed (as said above) for TV viewing.

For music you could try the default Ambient or the Full mode for your surtrounds.

Yes to all your questions. You will need a Sonos line-in adapter to connect your combined TT/Pre-Amp, or separate Pre-Amp, to one of your Era-100’s.

You can then group/ungroup your Sonos rooms to play to some, or all, your speakers. See this link for how to do that:

Regarding the above question….

Grouping the Era 100’s to your Home Theatre (HT) setup while watching TV will cause a 75ms delay to the Era 100’s. The dialogue will be out of sync causing an echo effect. The delay is true for any Sonos speaker grouped to your HT while watching TV.

The Beam communicates with other speakers in the HT setup over a hidden 5Ghz channel to keep everything in sync. Sonos speakers not part of the HT setup do not communicate with the Beam instantaneously over the aforementioned 5Ghz.

Grouping on the other hand “buffers” music (for lack of a better term) to allow all speakers to play music simultaneously.

Well, strictly speaking there are always buffers. There have to be, in any real-time transmission over asynchronous comms.

It’s just that the HT 5GHz has lower packet jitter, hence shallower buffers, in large part because the band isn’t shared with the unwashed masses like the 2.4GHz band is.

Thanks all for your informative replies. It’s a shame that the Era 100s would suffer the 75ms delay for TV viewing, but now I understand why. Nevertheless I have ordered the components which should be arriving today!
