Hi, I’m fairly new to this subject but I’ll give it a go..  I’m about to purchase a record deck to play my records on. Do I purchase the project or the victrola, your help would be appreciated

To provide some relevant info, it would be useful to know what speakers you have. The Victrola Carbon Stream will connect wirelessly to a Sonos speaker, while a turntable such as the Project T1 Evo Phono with a built-in Phono pre-amp will use the line-in connection of speakers such as the Era series or a Sonos port. Both brands offer very good to excellent turntables with Project having one of the largest ranges out there. Both the models mentioned come with Ortofon cartridges, the OM10 in the case of the Project T1 Evo, the Ortofon Red in the case of the Victrola, both are easily upgraded by simply replacing the stylus - both cartridges are very well matched to the respective tone arms of each turntable. Price wise, you’re paying for an extra DAC in the case of the Victrola versus using a Sonos DAC in the case of the Project. The pre-amps for both are decent enough, but nothing special. If you go the line-in route then buying a turntable with a separate pre-amp is always an option and one that will improve the audio quality, probably for less than the cost of the Victrola.
