I can't get my gen 1 play 5 to join my system with the new app


I’ve been through the setup many times...it won’t connect to wifi. I try the (correct) password 3 times and it bombs out of setup.

Also trying to hook a turntable and play line in and that is silent.  Arg.

I figured out it is a gen 2.  What worked in the end was deleting the S1 app off my phone, then adding the 5 to my system.

Hi

Your Play 5 Gen1 is not compatible with the new app assuming you are referring to Sonos S2 which just received a refresh. Your Play 5 Gen1 only works on the S1 app. Click link below.

If I try the s1 app it tells me to run the s2 app. I have an arc and 2 ERA 300s on the system for my tv sound.

are you sure it is a Play5 Gen1? Can you post a picture of it?

Hi

As @schoondoggy asked are you sure it’s a Play 5 Gen1? If it is and you have the other components you mentioned then you would have to run a “Split System) to accommodate the Play 5 Gen 1. Click the link:
