connecting turntable to existing surround sound

I have a Beam and plan on using two Era 300s to create a surround sound group for my tv setup. My question is I have an existing turntable that is playing through a Sonos Five. Am I able to connect the five through the beam and era 300s to play my turntable through the house? Or once they are setup as surround sound am I unable to do that?

I was seeing that the line in doesn’t work once you have the beam and era 300s grouped for surround sound. Is this true??

The line-in is deactivated on any speaker(s) used as surrounds.  But that only applies to the line-in capability of the surrounds.  Any line-in on other speakers not being used as surrounds will work just fine.

Just ‘group’ the rooms, starting with your Five that the turntable is connected to. You may prefer to set your surround speakers to ‘full’ in the settings for them, rather than ‘ambient’.

Or.just select the line in on the Five as a source for the surround setup if you don't want the Five to be playing too 👍

This is correct. Note that “Rooms” can be “Grouped”. Speakers are “Bonded” as a “Pair” or “Surround” Room.

I’m glad you said “plan on using Era 300’s for surrounds; which suggests you haven’t purchased them yet. A few things you should know…

Era 300’s are best used with a Sonos soundbar that can process Dolby Atmos when used as surrounds. The Beam (which I assume is Gen 1) will not process Dolby Atmos. For a Beam (Gen1) I recommend Era 100’s as surrounds. However, if you plan to upgrade the Beam (Gen1) to a Beam 2 or Arc Ultra then by all means go with the Era 300’s as surrounds. JMHO.
