I have  Sony Wireless turntable that I have connected via bluetooth to my Roam 2.  I also have a Sonos Playbar (no bluetooth).  I am able to play music from Spotify on my phone on both devices by selecting both devices in the Sonos app.

However, if I am playing a record from my bluetooth turntable on my Roam 2, I cannot add the Playbar on the Sonos app. When I open the app it defaults to the Playbar signal (rather than the Roam 2 signal), and since nothing is playing it shows “no content”. When I open “Your System” it shows that the Roam 2 has music, but is not selected, just the Playbar is. If I try to add Roam 2 so that both components are selected, the Roam 2 is cutoff in favour of the Playbar, where nothing is playing.  I have rebooted, factory reset, and reinatlled the app, all to no avail.  Any advice would be appreciated.

If you add the roam to the play bar it will play what the playbar is playing.

If you add the playbar to the roam it will play what the roam is playing.

Hi Stanley - thanks for your reply.  This is exactly my problem - the app won’t let me select the Roam and then add the Playbar. It will only let me select the Playbar and add the Roam.

In your first post you said “If I try to add Roam 2 so that both components are selected, the Roam 2 is cutoff in favour of the Playbar, where nothing is playing”. As @Stanley_4 already said, you are doing things the wrong way around

Select your Roam, start the stream from the turntable, then add the Playbar to your group.

Thanks Nik!

I’ve added a couple of screen shots to show my problem.  I start my record and play it onto my Roam. I open the app and this is what I see. You can see that it is recognizing that the Roam 2 is playing music (from the bars to the left of Roam 2), and that it knows nothing is playing on my Playbar (Living Room).

When I then go and select both devices, it assumes that I want the Playbar to override the Roam, even though nothing is playing.

So now it is playing “No Content” on both devices, and my record is no longer playing on the Roam 2.

There must be some way for me to make the Roam 2 the default device to which I can add the Playbar rather than the other way around as it is now.

Thanks in advance for all of your advice!

You are looking at the playbar's now playing, grouping screen.

Switch to the roam's now playing screen FIRST then select Grouping and add the playbar to the roam.

No other way to do it. You have to select the speaker that is playing the content FIRST then add to it.

As @Stanley_4 says, the first screenshot you provided already has the Living Room selected, and you’re then adding the Roam into the group.  As we’ve both told you, that’s the reverse order to what you need to do.

Thank you for the advice. It took a couple of attempts but it is working. My mistake had not been setting up a separate group with both devices, as I had simply tried to add the second device manually.  Thanks again!
