Cant update Sonos 16.5 on MacOS (VENTURA 13.7.1)

Sonos app ask me to check for update - but update stops every time with the message “Sonos update failed. An unexpected failure appeared” (or something like this..)

I have deleted/uninstalled the app on Macbook several times, and downloaded new 16.5 version on www.sonos.com.

Same problem each time…

Anyone have a solution?

Hi @tknag, welcome to the Sonos Community!

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with updating your system.

If you’re uninstalled and re-installed the app from our download page, then you’ll have the newest app version. You wont need to reinstall the app as the update that is failing is likely on the speaker side. When this happens, I’d recommend doing the following:

  • Reboot your Sonos speakers.
  • Reboot your router.
  • Restart the device running the Sonos app (not Shut Down).
  • Try the update with a different device running the Sonos app.
  • Wire a speaker to your router via an Ethernet cable.

You can try updating after each step here, but if you’re still getting an error message after doing all of the above, then I’d recommend contacting our support team for further troubleshooting assistance. They have the necessary tools available to look into your system to see why it isn’t updating and help you resolve this.

I hope this helps!
