Hi @Dekka789

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Just to clear things up a little bit:

  • Move uses it’s USB-C connection for nothing other than charging.
  • Move 2 can use it’s USB-C connection along with the adaptor for line-in. Connecting an iPhone or iPad would require the Sonos adaptor plus a Lightning-3.5mm headphone adaptor, connected by a 3.5mm to 3.5mm stereo cable. Direct USB-Lightning connection is not an option.
  • Both Move models can play 24bit, as long as it doesn’t exceed 48KHz. S2 software must be used.

I hope this helps.

Hi res: yes but depends on the audio format. Sonos article here: https://www.sonos.com/en-gb/blog/hi-res-audio-guide

USB c connection: yes but you’ll need to get the Sonos adapter. Or, use Airplay.

Does a direct USB-C connection actually work for line-in? (In which case why need the adapter?).

I haven’t seen anyone claim this before, thought analog only.

I said it would need the adapter, which enables a line-in input.  https://www.sonos.com/en-gb/shop/sonos-line-in-adapter.   I didn’t (or didn’t mean to) say a direct connection without the adapter would work.

You would need two adapters for a direct wired connection between an iphone and Move 2.  A lightning to 3.5 mm analog audio adapter, and the Sonos analog to usb-c adapter.

Note that the original Move does have a usb-c port, but it cannot be used for aux input via the adapter like the Move 2 can.  You can use airplay or bluetooth with the both Move and Move 2.

edit:  Corey beat me to it.

My apologies to all: I was thinking Move 2 rather than the original Move.
