To switch to music playback on the Home Theatre - In the Sonos App, just select the Home Theatre room from the slide up ‘room selector’ screen to bring that room into focus and then select any music source available/installed in your App, or ‘pinned’ to your Home Screen/added to ‘Favorites’ etc. and choose to play that audio on your Home Theatre.
There are many other ways to play music/‘other’ audio sources to Sonos speakers aswell, besides the Sonos App, including the following:
- Airplay 2
- Direct Control (PlexAmp/Spotify/Amazon Apps/iBroadcast/Emby)
- Bluetooth Audio
- UPnP/DLNA
- Alexa Voice Services
- Google Voice Services
- Sonos Voice Control (useful for grouping speakers too)
- TV Apps (YouTube/Chromecast/Plex)
- Line-In audio
- 3rd Party Apps (Soro/SonoPhone/Orto etc.)

If TV is already switched ‘ON’ when playing a music source, to switch back to the TV-audio you can do the following:
- In the new Sonos mobile App, whilst on the main Home Screen goto ‘Your Sources’ (with the HT Room in ‘focus’ at the top of the minimised ‘room selector’/‘now playing’ screen) - and simply select the TV icon.
- Using a previously setup TV remote, that has been paired with the HT device, stop the playing music (important) and then press the volume up button repeatedly on the remote until you then hear the TV audio.
- If using the Amazon Alexa Assistant with the Sonos Skill installed, or Sonos Voice Control, you can switch to the TV audio with this voice instruction: "Alexa (or Hey Sonos), Set mode to TV on [Home Theatre Room Name]”
If the TV is powered ‘OFF’, or in standby mode, whilst playing the music, it will also auto-switch to the TV-audio when you power the TV ‘ON’, that’s if the TV is connected to the main HT device via HDMI-Arc/eARC and ‘TV Autoplay’ feature is also set to ‘ON’ in the new Sonos App ‘Settings/[HT Room Name]’.
