Add Computer to Sonos Group?

I have a nice setup HiFi system in my office (Schitt Audio Stack connected to some Marantz speakers). - connected to a small windows computer for driving Tidal/Qobuz. BUT sometimes I am doing audio throughout the whole house and I have Sonos amps and arcs everywhere else and want to play that in my office. Is there a way to use my computer as an “output” so I can join it in a Sonos group so I can listen in my office to what is on everywhere else?

I can do it if I use Spotify directly and connect everything using Spotify...but that is just spotify...I would rather use the Sonos App and pass it through.

Given that the Sonos app is not a player, but merely a remote to looking at what is happening on the Sonos devices, I would agree with @Pools-3015 in adding a Sonos Port that feeds your computer. You would then be able to group that Port with any other Sonos ‘room’ and get the desired effect.

Sounds like a Port is what you need. I assume the Schitt stack has line in and out?

Yeah a port would do it for sure, I was hoping to use the computer itself to group in and not need to spend $450 on hardware that isn’t doing anything the computer already isn’t. Really just need the “software” on the port to be able to be installed on my computer so it is recognized as an Amp/Port (yeah yeah I know).

Personally, I don’t want my computer dealing with music as a player or source.

You could use an ERA 100. It will sound better than computer speakers. Even a ROAM will sound better than the computer speakers I’ve heard.

Yeah its not the computer speakers in my case...It is a high end system that uses the computer to push uncompressed audio to the DAC. I was just hoping to be able to have the Sonos “system” recognize my computer as output location (just like spotify connect does). Ah well - will have to determine if the Port is worth the 3 times a year I have the whole house going to have my office having the same thing.

The Port would also maybe bring some connectivity into your stereo system if it’s not there already. The other Sonos devices can access the music library on your PC if that’s what you are looking for.
