That old and un-updated it might be looking for an NTP server that no longer exists.
If you can check your router’s DNS log you should be able to see what server it is looking for. If it is a dead address use the router’s DNS override to remap it or a live NTP server.
I do that here for several devices that try to be sneaky and use NTP checks to call home to the manufacturer in China. Remapped they use my router’s NTP and leave no trace on the Intertnet.
Dead battery is a possibility but I’d think Sonos would use something rechargeable so leaving the speaker plugged in overnight might see it recover a working charge.
Hi @Darrent200
Welcome to the Sonos Community!
Sorry to hear about the issue your are having with updating your speaker.
I have not come across this time/date issue before, so I am not convinced that you are correct. I heavily advise calling in to our technical support team before opening any units up - a speaker with very old firmware will not be able to update in one step and will need assistance from our team.
I hope this helps.
