Has anyone else experienced volume changing when switching between sound sources?

In general, Sonos doesn’t do any ‘leveling’ of inputs, so if different sources have different ‘levels’, Sonos will reflect those levels. You’ll especially see this with TV inputs, as different ‘stations’ have different levels (and frequently play commercials at higher compression/volume), but Sonos doesn’t do any automatic ‘leveling’.

Spotify, for example, is much lower than Amazon in my case.
And plying Amazon, Atmos tracks are louder that the rest

While watching Netflix with the volume set somewhere in the midrange I paused the movie. When I resumed the was at a very low level. I had the same results with Apple TV.

While listening to Soma FM, I sit the volume at 50. When I pause the music and restart it the volume drops to 15.

Interesting. What did Sonos Support say, when you called in with this issue? I’m certainly not experiencing it on any streams I use. But I don’t subscribe to Netflix, and while I used to work in SOMA, I don’t listen to that station, either via TuneIn, or any other radio playing stream.

They said that they would need to collect more information. Since then I have noticed the volume drop seemingly at random when streaming from various services. Actually just now while typing this it dropped wifi connection. When it reconnected the volume had dropped again.

When a speaker adjusts to 15% volume, that typically indicates a fault with the speaker.

Is the speaker placed on a flat surface and the correct orientation?

Yes, it’s flat on a very sturdy entertainment center. I believe it’s a software issue.

If it was a software issue, the issue would impact on many users.

Previous reports of volume adjusting to 15% have either been due to incorrect placement or an amplifier fault with the speaker.
