I have posted before that I have a Gen 1 Play 5 on S1 and an Arc on S2. Each used a separate account and network.
Once I have done resets, S1 will play for a few days it then the "Sonos fond Connect" message comes up and my Play 5 does not get to play music.
This is so frustrating and should be fixed by a line of code. If S1 is connected to Play 5 Hen1, then do not try to connect to S2.
Surely someone at Sonos can ome up with a solution to this recurring problem.
Yes, I know they would prefer me to buy something new, but based on this fiasco, it wouldn't be Sonos. The Play 5 is a great speaker. The support is rubbish.

Thanks again, just to clarify, I will need to reestablish a reliable connection with S1, and only then use Phonos Ultimate? I have tried to isolate the S1 and S2 systems from each other. I presume that they do need to exist on the same network? Only then will it “find my devices, reliably”
Unless you have destroyed either your S1 or S2 “households”, or have factory reset a device and not recovered it, the app will work fine. It will not attempt to reconfigure or otherwise mess with your system.
S1 and S2 devices can run on the same subnet. With careful configuration it is even possible to run even more “households” over the same subnet, but only crazy people like me would try that.
We users can't help with coding issues, the moderators may be able to forward your coding suggestion to the developers if you give them some more details. S1 isn't seeing a lot of attention but I'd think they would look at your idea.
I looked at your earlier posts, not seeing the relationship to this issue.
Not sure what the "Sonos fond Connect" message is?
As a possible solution, I suggest shutting down or uninstalling both controllers. As you then restart or reinstall a controller, keep all units using the other controller powered down. Restart will be a little less work, but there is a lower probability of resolving the issue.
Yesterday, I did that myself after nearly an hour wasted chatting to a tech. I know how to get it working again as I have done it so many times. I spent a similar period doing the same thing last week. Can there really be anyone in the world who is trying to use Gen 2 equipment with the S1 controller. The whole process just needs scrapping.
As soon as I tried to use it this afternoon S1 sees nothing of my account, my music and Play 5, it only gives the dumb message of”Sonos has found Connect”. I just wish that it just would not bother looking.
My short term solution is to buy a 3.5mm line connector. Life is just too short to keep having dumb chats, with guys who cannot really offer a permanent solution to this Sonos generated problem.
Hi, does Sonofone replace S1, or S2? Perhaps both?
I subscribe to BBS Sounds and Apple Music, does it work OK with both these apps?
Thanks
While I don’t have an S1 system to test, my understanding is that SonoPhone supports multiple households as well as both S1 and S2 systems within the same app.

As said sonophone is just a control app, but it uses old tech before sonos changed to web based control, non web based to control both S1 and S2 from same app, it can overcome internet lag
I want to use my Android phone and SonoPhone does not come up on Play. There are others, one called Phons is a similar price. Has anyone used this successfully? It does seem that you do need to configure a system with S1 before switching control.
It really does surprise me that Sonos has allowed these alternatives to survive, rather than just fix the shortcomings of its own offerings

Can’t advise on Android sorry, sonophone has been around for years, it can be useful when sonos changes something like dropping iOS devices on an upgrade, or you are getting connection problems to help with keeping your sanity ;O)

I am the author of Phonos Ultimate for Android, and yes, it will solve your problems, specifically:
Handles S1 and S2 systems, simultaneously
Will find your devices, reliably
Compatible with Apple Music, BBC Sounds, and over a hundred Sonos supported music services
Sonos have been “supportive” of third party apps, in that they have not shut us all down, which is in their power. In fact, I think they are appreciative of us as we offer solutions for problems that would otherwise cause them to lose customers, so long as we are not a burden on them.

Thank you for your help and advice on this. It is certainly the way that I intend to go.

I totally get your frustration — managing both S1 and S2 systems shouldn’t break playback this often. The issue seems tied to how Sonos handles cross-network discovery. Try assigning each system a static IP and disabling automatic device discovery between subnets. This often stabilizes S1/S2 coexistence without resets. Still, Sonos should definitely patch this logic to prevent re-connection loops.
