I have a SL speaker in my garage I want to run 24/7/365 but that never works. After a couple days the music stops, I go the app and tap play and away it goes again. Why does it just quit playing music?

If streaming I’m inclined to agree with @Airgetlam first explanation:

  • Most streamers have a ‘time stop’ set up, so people can’t do exactly what you’re doing, by using up bandwidth that they ultimately pay for.

Here’s an AI explanation that supports the above

  • Many streaming platforms impose time limits on a single stream to manage server load, ranging from 1 hour on Instagram to 48 hours on Twitch. While services like YouTube allow 24/7 streaming, they may only archive up to 12 hours as a VOD. Similarly, Netflix may pause after 3 episodes or 90 minutes to check if you are still watching.

Most streamers have a ‘time stop’ set up, so people can’t do exactly what you’re doing, by using up bandwidth that they ultimately pay for.

Conversely, it could also be simple wifi interference that your system is experiencing, there isn’t enough data for us to tell.

I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, Sonos’ lawyers get sensitive about GDPR, I suspect.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Can you try it playing from your local music library?

Second thought: Maybe set an alarm to restart the music every day?

I will have to create a music library. I always just stream.
