If you only have one device, a factory reset will permanently delete all system data and Sonos playlists etc. These cannot be restored.

A factory reset is not a recommended course of action when troubleshooting issues with the system.

Do you have just a single speaker or a few speakers inside your home?

If you are referring to your playlists, then the answer is no. If you are referring to a local library, you just need to re-add the path.

Is there a reason behind doing a factory reset?

I did a factory reset on one device when it got “stuck” on updating for more than 20 minutes and then appeared not to work.  Setting up as new restored the device and picked up my settings from the other devices. With just one device you do lose all settings, playlist, etc as I learned when I was doing the initial setup and decided to change the associated email address.

This is a hand me down and trying to pair with my OnePlus 11 phone

There is no reset button on bottom or back of device. This is top of device.

Sheila, that’s a PLAY:1, not a Sonos One. It should factory reset using the instructions in the factory reset FAQ.

You have to read the link given above.  The reset for a Play:1 is to remove power by unplugging the unit from the wal., then hold in the Pause/Mute button on the unit while plugging it back in.  Hold in the button until the LED blinks orange/white.

You should be following this part:

All other Sonos products

  1. Unplug the power cord.
  2.  Press and hold the Join button (Can’t copy the graphics, for some reason) while reconnecting the power cord. If your product doesn’t have a Join button, you can instead press and hold the Play/Pause or Mute button (again, the graphics won’t cut and paste) while reconnecting power. (Your device would be the latter, the Mute button)
  3. Continue holding the button until the light flashes orange and white.
  4. The light will flash green when the process is complete and the product is ready to be set up.
  5. You can add your Sonos product back to your system by following the steps in our Add a new product to an existing Sonos system article.
