Hi there - I have a lot of smart wifi devices so Ill start with this as NOT using a mesh network is simply not an option for us due to how many smart devices we have in our home.

Having said that, I have multiple Sonos devices and am running on a router specs below:

  • 3 sonos one speakers
  • 1 sonos amp
  • 1 sonos playbar
  • 1 sonos subwoofer
  • 2 sonos one sl speakers
  • I have an Eero Pro 6E router.

I have tried everything I can think of that i found online to no avail and the lack of features in the app is not making it any better. The last ditch effort is what i recently did

  • I connected the playbar directly to the Eero via ethernet
    • I have no way of telling whether or not it successfully connected as there is no way to apparently see the WM (wireless mode) on the app on the iphone and the web app does not show this information - so I cannot physically tell’
    • It is how ever playing music so its connecting to somehow
      • apparently this was once a feature that was removed and is pending being brought back
  • I force quit the app and ensured all the speakers were off and relaunched the app to see if the connection was now stable.
    • It was not

When we checked the Eeros we found that the Sonos One speakers have the ability to connect to 5ghz and so they were switching back and forth between that and the 2.4 ghz.

  • It does not seem like there is an ability to stop them from doing this other than attempting the SonosNet which is where we connect one single device directly to the router.
  • Which we did but now cant tell whether its connecting via ethernet or going through wifi
  • And the speakers are still disconnecting and going on and off

Essentially every speaker I own other than the playbar my two One SLs and my subwoofer are not working consistently.

Any ideas?

Have you gone to Settings - General Settings - System Updates, and Check for Updates?

I'd suggest disconnecting the Ethernet, it adds to the complexity of the problem while likely not solving anything.

First thing, power down ALL Sonos, reboot the router and controller's device, power the Sonos back up. That gets you to a clean starting point.

If you search here you may find some tips on using your router.

If things still don't work post back or try a support call.

I have. The app is up to date with the latest update which is Sonos 80.20.35

Display About My System,

@Stanley_4  ok let me give this a try

so power everything off or only then devices that are not working ? cause it seems the root cause is coming from the sonos one devices who can float between 2.4 and 5ghz?

But The free iOS app “Phonos+” will display this.  @Sachikoko worth checking out if you aren’t sure.

Moderator edit: Edited

@Hickies  ok let me check that app as well

If you don't do a clean start of everything you have no idea what may be stuck in your system.

You can see some network information under Settings, pick a room, select products and a Sonos device, then Network. Working from a small screen so that may not be exactly right.

I’m not talking about the app. The path I gave is to ensure your speakers are up to date with the latest firmware. For the app to function properly it needs the latest firmware 85.0-64200.
