Sonos SL to pair with Ray

I have two Sonos SL speakers and was hoping to pair them up with Sonos Ray for my 2nd TV not as Surround speakers (it's an open plan room, so not possible to place them as surrounds) but as additional front speakers.

Nope, can’t be done. Often asked, if you search these forums.

The Ray is the 3 front channels. And, if you create a new room for the SL’s and group them with the Ray you’ll get a muddled sound - stereo coming from the SL’s and a 75msec delay too.

Thank you Nik9669a for the information. I suppose I can set up the SLs as surrounds and placed them at the front with the Ray. The sound output would be more with the additions of the SLs?????

You could do it, but then you’ll have surround sounds - ie what’s supposed to be heard behind you - coming from in front of you.

Since your first post says you have the SL’s, try it - you can then “remove surrounds” when you realise how odd it sounds.

If by “The sound output would be more with the additions of the SLs?” you mean “louder” you really need to consider upgrading the Ray, which is the entry level soundbar in Sonos’ range.
