When the speaker is charging a flashing white light appears, but as soon as the cable is unplugged the light goes off and nothing happens no matter how long the power button is held.
I hadn't used the speaker for several years and charged it for many hours because of that, but it doesn't respond to anything - neither when charging nor without.

Sonos Roam won't turn on
Long used Sonos somtimes need a forced fix by support. A call is the best option.
Here is the status light documentation. Lithium based batteries do not like to sit in equipment for extended periods without being charged. Actually there is a potential fire hazard if the battery is fully discharged. As a safety feature, the battery will lock out if discharged beyond the safe level.
Do you briefly see the red charging light as you start the charge?
SONOS support may make some sort of accommodation.
