We bought this from Best Buy and happy with everything about it. But a week ago where we had a blackout, power and internet was out for a bit. After that, my other Sonos automatically reconnected except for my Ray. I tried resetting it, playing with the app to see if I missed a step, unplugging power then holding reset button then replugging power over and over and still nothing. It doesn’t seem to want to connect? I bought this a few months now and don’t have a receipt anymore as I find Sonos really indestructible besides their sound quality. I think I’m in a pickle now, this is my first time experiencing this. The unit cannot be discovered, cannot be reset, just an endless white blinking light no matter what you do?

 The reason is stated below.

Although, that doesn’t resolve your issue. Trying connecting the Ray to your router via Ethernet. Close the Sonos app and reopen it. Since you said you factory reset your Ray it should appear as a new product in the app. Follow the directions to add it to your Sonos.

If that doesn’t work call Sonos Tech Support.

It is by default connected to ethernet, all my electronics that has ethernet are all plugged to the ethernet and also checked my modem, router and switch. All are working at their 100% duties. And I was initially looking to speak to them or email them but it keeps on leading me to here.

When you say ‘Ethernet’, do you mean cables, versus WiFi?

Here is the link that voices you the phone number to call Sonos. You can usually click on the ‘contact us’ below, but I suspect there is some dependence on your web settings.

Sonos Support

Yes. Wired with CAT6e cables and all managed on a multi-gig switch. Thanks, will try that.

Unusual, to be sure. Not sure the ‘speed’ makes much of a difference, much more likely some sort of port/network blocking, such as a managed switch, VPN, work ‘settings’, or other port blocking software, like virus protection, or similar. And remember, all Sonos devices and the controller need to be on the same subnet.

I’ll be interested to hear what Sonos support tells you. They might be able to get some information from a system diagnostic about your network, but not from the Ray until it connects to the system. And as much as we expect perfection, sometimes electronics fail.

Phoned Sonos customer service and we went through it all and found that the Sonos Ray is defective after just over a year of use. Kind of thought so just based on the other similar Sonos Ray problem in the Sonos troubleshooting community. Kind of losing respect to Sonos. The sound is phenomenal but the UI/UX is kind of going down. Might just use the 30% coupon they gave me to buy a second Sonos Roam and going to wrap up my Sonos journey. Was going to get my parents’ Sonos Arc but might just go with a different one. 🫤

Never Mind 😂

It’s only a bungalow house. At most 2 entertainment centre and 2 computers. I believe a 24 port would suffice. It’s not a set up smart home. It’s only MODEM>SWITCH>DEVICE. The ROUTER is connected to the MODEM in parallel so in another port on the modem.

By the above I assume you have an ISP supplied modem/router combo box; but choose to use your own router instead; as I do. The ISP supplied hardware (router side) has been placed in Bridge Mode.

If not...then I assume you have ISP supplied modem and you are using two routers of your own. If so...why?

The modem is supplied by my ISP. The switch isn’t a router. The router is because it doesn't reach in the garage and it’s a bit overkill compared to a mesh but I got it for free from my brother. I need internet in the garage for my profession hence why I could not settle to cellular data in the garage.

Most ISP supplied modems are also routers. Would this mean you now have two routers in your network? Because that could spell trouble for Sonos devices.
