I have a Sonos one SL individual speaker plugged into ethernet and I am unable to update the network in this new speaker that I got for eBay. Sonos says trade out the router with Spectrum, but it has been updated to the latest firmware that is supposed to fix the problem.

I don’t believe it after all I went through changing this and changing that and then was told to trade the router in and it wouldn’t work with my speaker and etc., etc. over period of two weeks and finally when I was talking to my network provider, he said, let him Hook up my speaker from his end. I didn’t understand what the difference was, but he said there was and lo and behold. It worked perfectly, and I haven’t had a problem since with the existing system I have. So if you can’t get it to connect, try calling your network provider and ask them if they can hook it to their Wi-Fi from their end for me it Worked.

Why would you need to update the network in a cable connected speaker? What are you trying to achieve?

I want to move the speaker right now. It’s plugged in to the ethernet east of the TV. I was told you new router and even told to put my remote or not my remote but my iPhone switched it to 2.4 on the Spectrum app to communicate that worked for about five minutes and then a lost signal

Just to clarify, are you trying to set the WiFi on the speaker to your network so you can unplug it from ethernet and place it somewhere else where there is no ethernet connection?

If you bought the speaker second hand, did you do a factory reset before using it? Or when you first turned it on, did you have a flashing green light?

I’ve spent days talking to the Sonos people and Spectrum set the reset the speaker set the router to 2.4 set my iPhone to 2.4 to communicate and at the end Sonos just kind of gave up and said tell Spectrum you’d like to have a different router, but they couldn’t recommend any router for me to ask for and Spectrum couldn’t tell me what all they had And the specs on them so they said go by the store and change it out so now I’m trying to research if there’s a router that Spectrum gives out that actually works. Pretty disgusted, but thank thank you for your help

I’d buy a good quality router and put the Spectrum in “bypass” mode if it will allow you to do that.

I wasn’t happy with my ISP’s router and did that here with excellent results.
