I have tried to factory reset my Sonos Move but the problem remains.
Is it Move or Move2? How are you connecting?
It is the first version of Sonos Move and I am connected over Bluetooth.
Seems to me the Bluetooth may be having to re-establish the connection? Your phone exhibits the same symptoms.
I don’t know if that’s standard with Move: maybe someone else will contribute…
Thanks for your reply nik9669a! Bluetooth connection is not lost, (at least device does not disappear from Bluetooth devices list). At first I thought it could be some power saving feature of Sonos Move that “turns off” the speaker element / amplifier when no sound is being played, but this does not happen for audio streaming, only for video streaming. The pause also doesn’t have to be long as double clicking pause on any video player causes audio to disappear for ~5 seconds. If I try to avoid this issue by playing sound on 1% volume all the time it still cuts out all the audio, when any video is paused and resumed. I’d imagine this is a software issue on Sonos’ side related to video media playback, but I’m not sure.
I tried to ask Sonos’ Customer service, and the answer I got was that Sonos Move is not designed for video audio over bluetooth. Kind of disappointing for a 400€ speaker (at the time of purchase). The pause delay is worst in any bluetooth device I’ve ever used.
I have the same exact issue. I used my original Sonos Move as my primary speaker for my pc for a couple years with no issues at all. This just started a few months ago, finally had enough and came here for support. I think them saying “it wasn’t designed for video audio over bluetooth” is a pretty lame answer.
Seems odd, when in Bluetooth mode, the Sonos has no idea what is sending a signal, so I’m unsure how it could be just on video playback. As near as I can tell, on Bluetooth, the Sonos system plays the Bluetooth signal as soon (with the caveat below) as it is received.
I think the Move 2 (and other Sonos Bluetooth speakers) are still subject to the 75ms buffering of a line in, including Bluetooth, in order that the input can be played across multiple rooms in a Sonos system, part of the way that Sonos’ underlying software is designed to work. Most people, as shown in this area of the forum, seem to use a soundbar based solution, for the digital input, which doesn’t have that delay (for that room only).
I have the exact same issue. Sonos should take notice and fix this!
