I got the Sonos Line-In, USB-C to 3.5mm adapter. I wanted to use it as a normal adapter with my other audio equipment, as my phone lacks a 3.5mm port. Is it not supported (which would be kinda annoying), or is it a fault on my end?

The Line-In would be used with an RCA (pluged in to the speaker) to AUX cable. Where it would act as a 3.5mm port, as I only have USB-C input to my phone.

Thanks

Not sure I understand your request.

You purchased a 3.5mm to USC-C adapter from Sonos, which transforms an analog signal to USB-C digital input.

After that, you’ve unfortunately lost me. You talk about an RCA connection to a speaker, I don’t know of any Sonos speaker that supports such a thing.

As long as the adapter is receiving a line level analog input via the 3.5 mm jack, it would be changing that to a USB-C digital output that then goes to the Sonos system. You should be able, using correct cables, to connect anything using a line level output to that adapter.

What have I misunderstood?

The Sonos adapter is analog (in) to digital (out).  It appears you wish to use it as a digital (in) to analog (out), so you can connect analog headphones to your phone.  It can’t be used this way.  You can get a generic digital (in) to analog (out) adapter on Amazon, there are hundreds of them.

Well this makes a nice change: normally people try to use headphone adapters on their Sonos, but the OP is trying to use the Sonos adapter for their headphones.

Neither will work of course, its 2025 and these aren’t analog cables.
