OK another observation.
I have a sub connected to my beam. Sonos app shows it with its IP but it isn't shown on my router list. It's it being marked due to the link to the Beam?
That would be correct. Both surrounds, and Sub(s) are connected to a Sonos soundbar via a hidden 5Ghz signal, and receive their IPs via that proxy connection. Part of the ‘setup’ process for both is removing their connection directly to the router’s signal, and connecting them to your soundbar’s signal.
Thank you Bruce. That's what I thought.
Ok new twist. So the 2.4 net is by no means ideal although it's solid as the performance goes. The beam is set 15 feet from a satellite that has an established 1 gig backhaul connection to the router with a great signal.
I unplugged the beam and rebooted the router and satellite. Plugged the beam back in and it hooked back up on the 2.4 net. I couldn't bring myself to delete the beam on the router's device list not being sure about a clean reconnection to the router.
I found this interesting since the router is set to automatically hook to 2.4 or 5 for anything that joins the network and has been flawless in doing this with various 2.4 only devices.
The Beam’s 5Ghz antenna is used to connect to surrounds and Subs. The 2.4Ghz antenna (or LAN connection) is used to connect to your router.
Ahhh, ok.
Bad assumption on my part that current wireless hardware would be using the 2.4 net when all the era100s are on the 5 net.
Life is good. System is as it should be then. 85 out, lemonade and jamming on the patio.
Thanks for all the input guys.
