Backyard setup: eARC-capable TV (2024 model), Sonos Arc, Sonos Amp connected to 4 Sonance speakers (two pairs wired in parallel per spec). Everything ethernet-wired. Plan(ned) to use Smart TV apps for all content. No other streaming boxes.
Wanted an “all-channel” option for watching sports, i.e., all 5 speakers (4 Sonance + 1 Arc) outputting the same content. Best I could achieve was to connect TV eARC to Sonos Arc, and wirelessly connect Arc to Amp via the Sonos app. However, this config relegates the Amp to Surrounds only, not full-channel audio. This config doesn’t sound very good, especially with 4 speakers in parallel. And the rear-most speakers are 20 feet from the soundbar (the closer speakers are about 10 feet from the soundbar).
Could not figure a way around this, so I grabbed an AppleTV 4K and connected it to a regular HDMI input on the TV (HDMI1), leaving the TV’s eARC HDMI4 port still connected to the Sonos Arc. I confirmed that if I select the regular HDMI1 input on the TV, it does indeed spit out the ATV4K audio via the TV’s eARC output to the Sonos Arc. Nice. Now, whether the audio quality is degraded due to this… no idea but guessing yeah, possibly it can’t process some of the fancy alphabet-soup audio options. But I’m not too concerned with that for outdoor listening.
OK so from that experiment, I thought - can I use an HDFury Arcana as follows, to achieve all-channel audio:
ATV4K HDMI OUT-to-Arcana HDMI IN;
Arcana HDMI-OUT-to-TV HDMI1 IN;
Arcana eARC OUT-to-Sonos AMP eARC IN;
TV HDMI4 eARC OUT-to-Sonos Arc eARC IN
Will this work? In effect, this gives me 2 eARC signals, one for the Sonos Arc, one for the Sonos Amp.
Appears the Arcana has ability to adjust delay between its eARC and HDMI outputs, so am thinking I should be able to tine-tune any time differences between Sonos AMP and Sonos Arc.
Is there another, simpler way?
