Hi,

I currently have the Piano Disk IQ system with Apple Airport express which communicates to the Piano disk app to play the Piano.  The IQ has to low level outputs that go to a powered soundbar subwoofer combo that sucks. My goal is to be able to connect this to the Sonos system.  I currently have a full Arc system in the same room for the TV.

Hi @Murreyk2

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Assuming this Piano Disk IQ system gives you a line-level output, you just need a Sonos speaker or device that will provide a line-level input, such as a Era 100 with a Line-In adaptor (the cheapest option), a Five, or a Port. Once line-in is connected to any Sonos device, any other Sonos device can choose it as a source.

Depending on the cables you have, you may need a RCA-3.5mm cable or adaptor: Port has RCA connections, the other options have a 3.5mm jack.

I hope this helps.

Hi Cory,

I will get the port and give it a shot. I will keep you posted on how it works out

Thanks

I’m not sure you are going to be happy with the results. If your expectation is to play the piano keyboard and have the music come out of the Port in real time, I’m afraid it’s not going to work.  The Port’s Line-In has a 75 ms delay in order to build up a buffer for multi-room streaming, and is not suitable for real time performance duties.

Hi Cory,

Just the clarify, the Piano is traditional baby grand with Piano disk added to it which gets the signal from the app letting it know what keys to play. On certain songs it will have accompanying background music like vocal's drums etc. The goal is to have the background music (via the file on the app)  play thru Sonos.

So what you saying it it will have a delay??

The accompanying music will be skewed in time unless the piano keys can be delayed by 75ms.

Hi @Murreyk2

I concur with the others - it does sound like there will likely be an issue with doing this due to the input delay on Line-In needed for synchronising play across the network - Sonos is not intended for live performances, and I think this setup might count as one example of such.

I hope this helps.

Well, unless There is another option, I think this will not work out as planned.

Thanks everyone for the input.
