Once again as @Stanley_4 mentioned this is a User Community. There are no Sonos officials here. Therefore you need to CALL Sonos Customer Support to plead your case.  Scroll to the Botton of this page and click on “Contact Us”.

You are posting to a community (user to user) forum with minimal Sonos official presence.

Your best option for support is to call the Sonos support number. Might take a couple calls and asking for escalation.

The other topic was auto-closed due to inactivity, not by direct Sonos action.

That photo doesn’t look like degradation to me nor did the photo in the post mentioned. Looks more like abuse.

The black spots are just dust, the problem isn't made really clear,  but it is that the paper is sticking to the paint.

The custom color paints seem to have sticky issues the standard Sonos colors don't.

That also makes dust removal a real problem as you can't just wipe it off and using a strong cleaner on failing paint is risky. So the black spots are likely not abuse but caution.

I don't know what Sonos should do, how much of the issue is theirs versus the color company, Hayes(?) but it must suck to have sticky speakers and nobody listening. They are probably out of warranty, but some official sympathy at least?

Related a bit: Previous homeowner here used cheap paint that was still sticky months after we bought the place. Only solution was to strip it off and repaint an ugly job on our wall, much harder on their speakers. At least we got a bit of sympathy from the inspection insurance agent, not a dime towards the issue though a,s page 5 or so in the fine print footnotes said it wasn't covered.

Went looking for Sonos Hay paint issues and found very little, it may not be a common issue or may be related to the speaker's environment.

I don’t know that Hays is used for the ‘standard’ colorization, just the ‘special’ collections.

As far as I can see the Play 1 was discontinued in October 2017. Even if it would have paint problems, do you really expect Sonos do something about it in 2026?

HAY did produce a light grey for Sonos. However, it’s not easily determined versus Sonos white via the photo (for obvious reasons) nor is it mentioned by the OP that it’s a HAY color.

Here’s a link to HAY colors developed for Sonos.

The Hay speakers where One’s, not Play 1’s?

As I recall, and as shown in the picture on the link provided by @AjTrek1 , they were only Sonos Ones, and not PLAY:1s.
