Release date: 01/07/2025
In this update:

Bug fixes and performance improvements.
Fixed an issue with Control4 integration

Updated without any issues. We'll have to guess which Bug fixes we're talking about :)

What is Control4 ?

Control4 is a whole home system of devices, usually installed by professionals, which includes an interface for Sonos.

I have opinions, but I will keep them to myself. ;)

They had a good thing going when they told us what they changed. I wonder what bugs were fixed and performance improved.

So far totally lost the subordinate (right) speaker of a Play:1 stereo pair. Various hoops tried to re-enliven (system showed speaker correctly paired, it was just dead).

Eventually tried to remove stereo pair and was prompted to complete speaker update on the Play:1 in question. Did this, remained in pair but dead - re-jumped hoops resulting in depairing speaker.

System then forgot about it, more reboot hoops etc. performed but speaker remained unknown to the system.

Eventually reset speaker, re-introduced it to the system and re-paired - actually without issue.

Play:1 stereo pair now back and operating how it was an hour amd a half ago prior to the update... although once again it has a very laggy play/pause/mute response together with poor/nonexistent/very very laggy volume control... which seems to have been re-introduced, it having been fine for sometime now ☹️

If you get glitches like yours at updates it has been reported (and I saw it here) that setting static/reserved IP addresses for all Sonos devices can reduce or eliminate the problems.

Go to your router’s DHCP settings page, it should have instructions.

Once set power down all Sonos, reboot the router, power the Sonos back up once the router is fully booted.

@Stanley_4 , Thanks but all my Sonos equipment has been on static IP's since day one and well before May. I also did power cycles on my speakers plus router trying to get the errant Play:1 back last night - 👎 no joy.

This is, it has to be said, the first time I have had an issue with a firmware update dropping a speaker since this update cycle began last May.

The lag on my Play:1's seems to have re-manifested having previously been greatly improved, if not fixed…

#notmynetwork 🤪

If you look under Settings - About does it show all Sonos on the same software version?

If that isn’t the problem and the static IPs already in place and the power-cycle didn’t help it is time to call in for support.

Yep all looked good, the speaker was just dropped, dead, fallen off its perch and unusable… although present and correct in the pair in the app and showing as correctly updated.

Reset, reintroduction & re-pair solved the problem...

It seems that Patch 82.3-60160 messed up my system too.

Unable to add Arc Ultra back to my wifi network and have it show up in the sonos app
Unable to add 2x Sonos One to my wifi network and have them show up in the sonos app
New prompt saying that Sonos One’s can be used as surrounds for my Arc Ultra unless the Ultra is wired

Things attempted in no particular order:

  1. Attempt to re add to app
  2. Factory Reset
  3. Hard Reboot
  4. Reboot Android phone
  5. Add wired connection to a Sonos One, Works lists wifi network details correctly, disconnect cable no longer appears in app
  6. Add wired connection to Arc Ultra, single Sonos one appears if cable is disconnect fall off the network
