Hi there,

I’m hoping someone come help me, I have quite a large Sonos system. 31 devices total and I’ve spent the last week hardwiring the system with cat 6 data into a Unifi switch. I’ve tested all my cables and confirm there are no faults. I have used UE300’s for all my era100’s, which make up most of my system. I’m getting SFP blocks on my Unifi switch and am unable disable WiFi on a couple of devices.

I have tried turning my WiFi off and watched my devices list on the Unifi app to see if the last few devices would disconnect but they still said they were connected some how. I’ve tried changing the WiFi password to trick them off the network before rebooting the devices and network. I’ve tried multiple times on the app to disable WiFi on the last couple of devices but they continue to say WiFi enabled or the option is blacked out.  I have tried deleting my WiFi network off of the Sonos app and it came back once I played music.

What do I need to do to create a hardwired system? I’d like to get the speakers off of my WiFi as I have hundreds of other Iot devices that are either on a separate vlan already or are sharing the same network. I struggle to play music throughout all zones at once which id like to be able to do or atleast the main zones and try to get rid of any cutouts etc

if i must create a separate vlan or ssid for half the house i can try that also but would be last resort.

is 31 devices to close to the limit?

Thanks

Ango

If some devices are wireless and others are connected by Ethernet, the SonosNet network is automatically created, as I understand it.

My understanding is that 32 devices is the limit.

To create a fully hardwired system, connect them all by cable. You’ll need the adaptors for your Eras as they are wifi only by default.

@Angobeefy, SonosNet does not make use of your router’s WiFi. If each Sonos unit is hardwired, you should be able to deactivate the WiFi module in each device.

Disable or enable WiFi on your Sonos products | Sonos

As mentioned I have adapters and am under 32 devices….

i have deactived Sonos net in all but 2 remanning devices

What are the remaining devices? Are they connected by Ethernet? If not, do so.

Everything is connected. The last device that has WiFi enabled and will not disable is a symfonisk lamp. In a room with a sub mini and beam and other lamp. I hard reset the lamp and now the other lamp is causing a stp loop.

Device list:

1 Symfonisk picture frame

4 Symfonisk lamps

3 beams

3 sub 4’s

2 sub minis

2 fives

17 era 100’s all fitted with UE300 adapters

everything is hardwired.

Are the Symfonisk’s surrounds bonded to the Beam?
Whilst it may take a while, I’d be inclined to set up addresses for your devices as a part of the setup, to avoid risk of ip address conflicts.
If you do so, a power down and reset of all speakers (and router) will be needed. But, whilst they’re powered down it’ll give you a chance to try and resolve the issue with the remaining speaker.

Yes two of the lamps are in one room, will try reserving IP’s and get back to you. Thank you

All reserved and still no luck, last lamp that’s connected to the beam is no longer showing up in app and fails to set up after a reset. Continues to ask for Ethernet cable even with cable inserted and tested.
