Read a few posts about sub mini not maintaining connection to the Sonos Amp and I have the same issue. They are 5 or 6m apart with a wall between them. It seemed to be stable for about 3 days but is still dropping out regularly enough to be annoying.

I’ve read about cabling the sub mini and in the posts I’ve read people suggest that is to the router, but I would have thought to the amp makes sense as it’s WiFi connection to my home network, certainly in my case, is stable. Am I just reading it wrong and a cable from amp to sub will resolve the issue?

I do have a home network, but have actually found my Sonos devices work better wirelessly (the WiFi coverage is good), I’m assuming because, other than the sub mini, they use their own Sonosnet network?

It would be a pain, but it’s feasible that I could run a cable between Amp and sub, but didn’t want to start drilling any holes until I was sure!

Thanks!

I am far from expert on this!

Usually you would want to run the Ethernet from both Amp and Sub back to the router.

However I ended up in an odd situation where it was suggested I wire two wireless Surrounds together with Ethernet and then disable the wifi (internal radio) on one.

Until someone has a better suggestion why not try it? Don't drill holes, grab so ethingli,e a 50 or 100 foot Amazon Basics Ethernet cable and try the options. Keep the cable you may need it some day if Sonos gets stuck, it is far easier than hauling Sonos closer to the router.

There is another discussion going on here on Sonos networking and the 2.4 and 5 gHz versions of Sonosnet you might want to look at, start at the top.

Thanks.

I’ve moved the amp so there is less interference and that seems to have helped. Hopefully that’ll be enough to keep it working.

If it starts failing again I’ll temporarily run a cable between them (it’ll totally be in the way and a massive trip hazard!) and see if that helps and will also try cabling them to my home network - making sure they run over the same hardware and maybe making changes to the LAN as per the links in the link you sent.

Given how inconvenient all of that sounds I’m v much hoping moving the amp will be enough!

Appreciate your help
