I don’t understand how products at this price range have the most maze like user experience, the era 300 is advertised as a dolby atmos speaker yet it will only play as such if connected as a pair with a beam or and arc, what’s the f point of buying it then?, even if one would argue about how they should be connected through the beam to perform atmos audio, its pairing as surround was next to imposible, so much i just returned the whole thing. I was trying to buy a product not to engage in a 4 year degree of IT. Support is more than complex to have someone to talk to, i really can’t understand how something as expensive as this has a horrible, atrocious user experience

whoever was in charge of the app should be burning in hell, in this and all universes

The best part of my sonos experience was returning the products (due to amazon customer service)

Maybe a bit of research would have saved you any discontent. The Era300 plays tracks in Dolby Atmos if you subscribe to Apple Music or Amazon Music (and if the track itself is in Dolby Atmos). It can’t magically play in Atmos if the streamer doesn’t support it or if the track is stereo.

Do you subscribe to either streaming service?

Also, how would an Era300 speaker play TV content in Atmos if you only have one? You can only connect Era300s as surrounds if you have a pair. It has always been the case for surrounds since the world began..

The OP is incorrect.  A single or stereo pair of Era 300 will play Dolby Atmos Audio sources from Apple Music or Amazon Music.  In a surround configuration with an Arc/Arc Ultra/Beam 2, it will play both Atmos Audio and Atmos soundtracks from video.

My pair of 300s with a Sub (gen 2) happily play Atmos and sound fantastic on well mastered tracks.

There are some awfully mixed Atmos tracks so if you are unhappy with one try a few others. Hopefully the worst tracks will be replaced if users complain to the streaming source.

But you don’t need a pair of Era300s to play Atmos music however - a single unit, like the OP had, is fine - so they could have played in Atmos with the right streaming service and right tracks.

Slightly off topic, but complaining to a streaming service won’t get a poorly mixed Atmos track replaced - especially when it’s purely subjective. The record company is the one investing in the remastering/ remixing, and has signed it off, and that’s what they provide to Apple Music et al. They’re not going to re-invest in further remixing once done. And it’s of little concern to the music platform, unless there are technical issues with the track that they need to flag to the record company. But someone feeling the track isn’t mixed very well isn’t going to kick Apple or Amazon into action.

I didn't say you needed a pair, only that my pair, with no soundbar was working well.

Amazon music issues can be reported using the "feedback" system, they seem to try to correct what they can.

Got it.

And interesting. 👍🏻
