Sonos tells us the new Sonos One Gen 2 has had some small internal updates,
including "the addition of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE),
an updated processor, and increased memory".
But there's no affect on the overall features available nor to the external design.

I wonder and hope that the added memory was for Google support. I also wonder if you could have a gen 1 right and gen 2 left paired as stereo?

They've already said that both Gen 1 and Gen 2 will support Google, so the extra memory can't be for that.

Yes, you can have both generations paired as stereo, or bonded as surround speakers.
