Hi all, I have a sonos playbar, sub and two play 1’s for rears. I have noticed that recently when playing films in Dolby digital (Apple TV 4K) that the playbar sound seems to be being drowned out by the the rear speakers. The sonos is reporting Dolby digital 5.1 in the app. I have tried enabling speech option on playbar but doesn’t seem to make much difference. The only option seems to be turning off rears to hear what is being said. I need to try some other films but it does seem the rears seem much louder than the playbar ? Normal tv is fine albeit not tried rears yet. Any tips would be great 😃
Hello I have just bought a Playstand which is very good but I now have a redundant Playbar. Can I use the Playbar like a Play1 or Play3 and set it up as a speaker in my study?
Cleared the queue during play of a music service station - songs cleared, and station continues to play, but now queue information is blank and no info will appear anymore for anything? Looked for info and could find nothing on how to get the queue display to re-populate.
I used to have wired outdoor speakers and a Connect AMP. But we moved and now I have two choices. One is adding a Bluetooth transmitter to a Connect (already own both) and purchasing bluetooth speakers for outside. I just tested this with a portable speaker and it works great even with the doors closed. Next is to purchase a Play 1 and leave it in the covered section of the porch year round (in SW Florida it never gets too cold but it is humid). My concern is if we get a windy day with rain...it could blow in horizontally and get the speaker wet. I could put it high in a rafter to avoid this. Otherwise it would be covered year round - out of sun and rain. I think to get equal audio quality the first option would be about $50 more than the second. Any feedback on either of these options will be appreciated.
Hi Sometime Im noticing that the music in my kitchen seems unable to connect (or some such error) and will skip to the next song. I have two Sonos Play 1s in there and the router is a bit away from them. They're both connecting wirelessly. Would a powerline adapter help? I was thinking the wireless connection might not be great so to connect an Ethernet cable via powerline to the left speaker. As I've two (left and right pair) will it just make the left one better? Would the left communicate wirelessly with the right in this scenario or will the right always try to connect wirelessly to the router? Thanks P
Moderator note: This article was updated in December 2024. Hello everyone! We’ve seen some questions and discussion about room grouping come up recently. We have an FAQ that shows how to group along with the basics of grouping. This is a great resource that shows how to group rooms and some additional features. If you’d like a quick reference, check it out! This discussion should serve as a “crash-course” on grouping in Sonos. If you have any questions or need anything clarified, please do not hesitate to leave a comment. We are happy to help. If you're having problems with grouping, feel free to create a new topic and the Community will take a look. What is grouping? Grouping allows you to play audio content from your favorite music services and sources on two or more of your Sonos speakers, at the same time. Players that are grouped share the same queue and will continue to do so until you un-group the rooms.Amazon Alexa/Sonos One Users: Grouping in Sonos is separate from Alexa groups
I did a quick search and found no mention of this system in the forun which was announced late last year not sure what became of it as there are scant reviews online and even fewer stockists https://www.dynaudio.com/home-audio/music/discover Looks interesting and Dynaudio certainly know a thing or two about speakers. Anyone seen them in the flesh?
#SonosOne Hi All Just wanted to see if anyone is currently experiencing a possible issue with the Sonos One not being securely screwed to the provided Sanus brackets shipping with new WSS22 "Sonos One" stands. As the old Play 1 had a screw at the back of them, old Gen. Sanus brackets (for the WSS1) had the holes and could be secured to the speakers, however as Sonos seems to have done away with the screw design together with any compatibility with previous Play 1 stands, it appears to be to difficult to design a bracket to actually firm grasp the base of the Sonos One Speakers, making it easier for a toddler to sustain damage from an unstable speaker even though the base is wide and stable it's easy for the speaker to get knocked and damaged which also potentially means more sales for Sonos due damaged Ones in the process Please comment if anyone seems to have bought one yet and concurs there is a chance of the speaker getting knocked of the bracket base easily unless the "base
Hello. I would need some guidance. I am getting an LG TV to which I am adding their Dolby Atmos Sound bar SJ9.I would like to add my 2 Sonos Play1 Speakers to this setup. Is it possible ?Maybe with the SONOS CONNECT Smart Wireless Stereo Adaptor ? is there a less expensive solution if at all. Thanks!
Can I use Play 5 Gen 1 connected directly to my phone with 3.5 cable. I have no WIFI or internet.
Hello, I'm new to Sonos speakers having just invested in 2x Play 5's, 2x Play 1's and a Sonos One. I was wondering if it would be possible to connect my old speakers to this system, or at least control them through the Sonos App using the Sonos Connect/Connect Amp. I'm not sure if anyone knows but the main problem with the Phililips Fidelio AW5000/9000 range was a completely flawed Airstudio app, which in practical terms rendered the speakers redundant, so it would be nice if I could get some use out of them as they are of good build quality and nice sound. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Oliver
Sorry if this has already been discussed, just thought I would share my experience with the new Sky Q boxes and Sonos for anyone looking for Airplay/bluetooth support for their Sonos system, or are considering upgrading to Sky Q but haven't yet. As the new Sky Q boxes come equipped with AirPlay support (and Bluetooth), I have 3 Sky boxes attached to TV's around the house which are linked to two PlayBars and a Play:5. This adds seamless airplay/bluetooth support to your entire Sonos system from any sky box, I can use my original phone music player or even youtube audio and not have to use the Sonos controller. This also turns your TV screen into a nice music visual if using airplay. Other benefits are the full HD/4K aspect, meaning better use of your home theatre set up using DD sound. Previously only available by additional subscription on Sky+. For me these benefits alone for my sonos system are worth the upgrade to Sky Q, there are also many more improvements on the Sky bo
My home is frequently used as the home to have parties, mainly because everyone says they love my sound system, which consists of several Sonos connects, early Zone players and many Play ones and some play 5's. I would love to not always be relied upon to host parties, and was wondering if my play ones and play 5's could be brought to other people's homes? How difficult would that be to do something like that? Along that line, has there been any thoughts to allowing the sonos speakers to work in the car, using my iPhone's personal hotspot?
Hi, Although I love the fact that Play devices are wireless, the reality is that for someone like myself who wishes to mount them on a wall in various rooms, I still need to run power up to the speakers. Running power cables in the wall is even more trouble than running network cables. Worst, there is no way to do a clean job if you don't want to have ugly power outlets at the top of your walls and then you have an ugly power cable that is visible... Furthermore, if you want to avoid buying the Bridge, you need to run AT LEAST one network cable to the device anyway. Why bother having to run both power and Ethernet? So, I think my proposition is pretty simple (although it would need to happen on future versions of the hardware): Why not make the Ethernet port be PoE, which means that a PoE switch could supply power to the speaker. I do read that PoE have a maximum power of 35W (I also read 50W wat possible in a non-standard installation).. so maybe this will be an issue. But
Sonos stinks. I am listing all my speakers and everything 'Sonos' on Craigslist. You cannot get through to customer service, minimum 1 hr hold. MINIMUM. System often won't play. System drops whilst playing. Last phone call the rep now says there's too many wifi networks in range! God thing I don't live in the heart of the city or a condominium with more networks. All the updates, it gets worse. Imagine spending a few grand and not being able to use it or having it cut out all the time. Such rubbish. Wish I had never spent the money. I wanted Bose yet they were not doing the streaming speakers at the time so I bought Sonos. I've seen it continue to go further and further downhill. What a mess!
Hi I am starting construction on a patio in the next few weeks, just want some setup recommendations as I managed to sneak my Sonos expansion into the budget :) The space is going to be close to 800 square feet, so I want to make sure I have enough coverage for the entire area. I currently have a pair of Polk outdoor speakers (used with a Connect and small amp) that will be in one "zone". I am thinking I need at least 4-6 more speakers to cover the area adequately. Currently looking at the TIC GS4 driven by Connect Amps. My main question is around the TV setup. I'm planning on getting a Sunbrite outdoor TV with a dedicated pair of outdoor speakers (driven by a Connect Amp), and I would like to be able to hear audio from my TiVO box as well as an Apple TV. Since there is only one Line In on the Connect/Connect Amp, is the easiest way to get audio from both sources to use the Line In on two different Connects, and then group the zones together when needed? I would say 90% of the
One of my Play5 units stop working after a lightning strike on the house. Is there any kind of internal circuit breaker that could be fixed or is this thing likely just toast?
On opening my app today (on both my Android phone and my iPad), all the items in "My Sonos" are grayed out and it says "This content is no longer available. Tap Edit to remove it from My Sonos." This is on everything; TuneIn, Pandora, all of it. There's also a black banner I've never seen before right above the navigation bar at the bottom, that says "Resume From". If I tap the up arrow there's a screen that includes a window with "Last Played in This Room" with "Resume" and "End Session" choices. Neither of those do anything if I tap them. I've clicked everything possible, checked updates, removed and reinstalled the app, but no luck. What is this mystery?! Mystery solved: One of my speakers went haywire and a reset of the router fixed it. Not seeing an option to delete my question, so hopefully this will help someone else!
I’ve given up waiting for Audible support as after a few years it seems increasingly unlikely it will ever arrive. This isn’t a rant about that, there’s plenty of existing threads on the topic. So sadly... I’m thinking of ebay’ing my Sonos One and Play 5 and instead getting a couple of HomePods. Has anyone with a Play 5 had the opportunity to compare them? I understood it wasn’t close in terms of audio quality but a recent article I read suggested there wasn’t much in it? Thanks very much 🙂
Does the microphone in the Play 5 collect voice data? Is it capable of this? If so, can it be disabled?
Have a 1st generation play 5 we have been using as our "outdoor" speaker. We have built outside bar and want to know if its possible to use the play 5 and connect a 3rd party speaker to the Play 5? If possible, what do i need for equipment? I have tge sonos sourround sound as a boost as well. Thank in advance
No question here, just a warning. After restarting my BT Whole Home wifi mesh system, I found that two players (one on Ethernet, one on Sonosnet) were missing from my iOS Sonos controller app but could be seen in the PC desktop controller. I had also power-cycled the players, and indeed all devices. So there was no obvious culprit. Both players had valid IP addresses though, and were on the network. I eventually worked out that the Whole Home system had restarted with some paused / blocked devices. I had unpaused the wifi ones - but had no idea that it could even see the wired ones (if you drill into the app though, this becomes apparent on the Devices page). And while it obviously can't block wired (or sonosnet) devices as such, it can purport to do so and this stops them being seen by devices on its own mesh. Coupled with this, a growing literature on other forums also suggests that BT Whole Home accidentally blocks devices quite regularly - personally, I suspect mostly throu
We have four Sonos base units at work for streaming music, however I would like to use the speakers as a PA system for a work's quiz - ideally with no expense. I have a microphone that I can plug into an iPhone, so an app would be handy. All suggestions welcome!
Is it possible to play audio from movies and online TV/movie streaming (e.g. from my PC or laptop) through Sonos Play 1 speakers. It seems like Sonos Play 1 are only really good for music files. Any solution to this, ideally a free one?
Hey folks, just wondering if the power cable with the play 1 white is black or white?
