Best way to deploy new speakers

I have two Sonos One speakers, along with a Sub Mini, that I use to listen to music in a medium-size bedroom while I lie in bed, the speakers positioned on either side of the bed, at the head of the bed. I just bought two ERA 100 speakers. My original idea was to just replace the Ones, but it occurred to me that I might get a fuller sound using all four speakers. Should I use the ERA 100s as my main speakers and the Ones as additional? Should the ERAs be at my head, and the Ones at the other end of the room, or the Ones at my head like surround sound and the ERAs at the other end of the room? Thanks!

You cannot add surrounds to a stereo pair. Surrounds can only be added to a soundbar or Amp. You are able to group them when they are setup as separate rooms though.

You can use all four speakers. Just create a different room name for the Era 100’s and Create a permanent Group. You can then experiment with placement.

Trying them in different positions is going to be your best bet for finding what sounds best to you.

However the Sub-mini is a complication, it can Bond to either a single speaker or a stereo Pair.

What I'd suggest trying is the Paired 100s at the other end of the room, try placing them to give you a good stereo image in the bed. Add the Sub to this Pair. Keep the Ones Paired and at the head of the bed, a Group them with the 100 Pair, maybe at a reduced volume level, which is why I suggest the Sub be bnded to the other Pair.

I wouldn't rule out moving the Ones, individually or as a Pair to another room. The Ones evicted by my new 100s ended up sitting on top of the kitchen cabinets. Added an extension off the microwave outlet to get power up there. Sounds great and I can have cooking music without having to take over the TV setup and play it loud enough to hear there. Makes the spouse happy.
