Hi,

since the last update Sonos Voice Assistant’s volume is fixed to a constant unintelligible low, one is unable to hear it nor is it possible to set it via the master volume. Would it be possible to give the users a separate Assistant volume control? Thank you.

Hi @Patki

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

I am sorry to hear of this issue you are having with the Sonos Voice Assistant’s voice being at a lower volume than other content.

This issue is not reproducible for us, so I recommend that you reboot the speaker concerned by unplugging it from power for a moment.

If this does not help, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.

It’s reproducible for me. And no matter how I try to raise the volume, the voice assistant stays at a whis[per.

This is pretty crappy. How hard is it to at a minimum provide a slider in the app to adjust the voice assistant volume?

So, what did the technical support team say, when you called in?

I don’t use voice control anymore, but my understanding is the voice ‘response’ is supposed to vary with the volume of the speaker, and not be a ‘whisper’. Have you tried a power cycle on this device? Have you checked for firmware updates in the controller?

I’m having the same issue with a nearly new Sonos Era 100. Very soon after starting to use it with the Sonos Voice Assistant and Alexa, it seemed like Alexa was much too loud. For the past few weeks, Alexa seems pegged reasonably well to the system volume, while the SVA is much too low even with the system at max volume, and much lower than the music playback. I’ve made sure the firmware is up to date, tried every setting I can find, tried disabling the SVA and reinstalling, tried unplugging, nothing works.

Really a “you have one job” situation, Sonos. I’ve been thinking of adding more speakers in my house, but if you can’t manage the most basic function of volume control, I’ll have to look elsewhere.

I haven’t seen the agreement, but it is possible Sonos doesn’t have volume control over Alexa, but your point regarding Sonos Voice Control is valid. I’d have thought it was also tied to the volume settings on the speaker. Have you tried calling Sonos Support to discuss it?

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.
