Sonos Voice Control voice response way too loud .... How to change response volume level ?

Turned on Sonos Voice Control and it works great.  Problem is that the volume of the Voice Control reponse is much to loud.  No matter what the level of music playing is the Sonos Voice Control reply seems to remain constant … but the volume is problematic as it is so loud.

Hoping there is a way to control and change the volume of the Sonos Voice Control response voice.  Does anyone know how to do this and are you experiencing the same problem where the voice response is much much too loud ?

The command “Hey Sonos Voice Control Softer” does lower the level of the voice control response.  If I set the music level louder though the voice control level seems to then match the music level volume.  Problem is that playing music at 70 or 80% sounds fine and not too loud but then the Voice Control level response changes and sounds much louder that the level of the music that was playing.

Want to be able to play music at a pleasant level and have the Sonos Voice assistant response level stay the same and at a lower level that does not hurt my ears.    This is causing me to not want to use the assistant.

Hi @kjs-uke

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Currently, the Sonos Voice Control volume is locked to that of the player - there are no separate levels, just as with the other Voice Assistant services.

I can certainly tag this topic as a feature request, however - it will now be seen by the relevant teams for consideration. Thank you for the feedback!

This has been marked as solved by @Corry P but this is not solved.

The Sonos voice response should be entirely configurable, and we should be able to turn off vocal answers and change the volume.

How come such an elaborate product is still lacking such trivial functions?

I think the thread is answered - the Voice service is linked to the device volume, same as other VA’s and the matter has been put forward as a ‘feature request’.

On top of that, Sonos are unlikely to announce the outcome, until the feature is implemented. Not that we will ever know if it will be.

On the scale of things, I don’t believe there is that much of a ‘call’ to change the way the voice assistant works at the moment, compared to say the online requests to fix some missing things in the new Sonos App, like queue management, for example.

It’s a case that the request has been put forward and now it’s a matter of waiting to see if the feature may get implemented.

Thanks @Jaxxx666

We’ve changed that now. I have wondered for a while where people were getting the idea that Best Answers were solutions, and I think we just found out. You have helped improve the Community!

It’s not like we don’t pay enough for the product to get top notch development!

Get the solution implemented or get bead reviews.

The volume of the voice assistant on the Moves was fine till a few days ago. Now it's so loud that I can't use them at night except through the app. The heck, Sonos!? Never had this problem with the Amazon Echo products around the house and so now I'm seriously thinking about swapping the bedroom Moves for the Echoes in the kitchen. Sort it out, lads.

What the F is going on… voice response is so loud on Google or Alexia or Sonos…. And no way to fix it … this is crap. Try lots of the above and nothing works….Hopeless Sonos

Hi @ciogga & @Lukestar

If the relative volume of your Voice Assistant(s) as compared to the speaker’s own volume has changed recently, then I recommend performing a reboot of the device(s) affected.

If that does not help, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.

Same problem here with both Voice Assistants (Alexa & Sonos)

Feels like this has got even worse recently on my Era 100 for both voice assistants. Please Sonos, sort this out with an independent volume control, or even standard volume. Anything but shouting as that makes it unusable currently!

It’s got a lot worse for me in the last month or so. Sonos voice control is unbearably loud, especially when my speaker volume is on 5 out of 100! Not fit for purpose.

“...just as with the other Voice Assistant services.”  Perhaps you need to research this more.  Apple HomePods allow for this.  Please implement Sonos Voice volume to be independent from music volume.  Thank you.
