Hi all,

I recently changed my Wi-Fi router, and now my Sonos system won't connect to the new network. I've tried rebooting the speakers and using the Sonos app to reconnect them, but nothing works. The app keeps saying it can't find the system.

Here's what I've done so far:

  • Updated the Sonos app to the latest version
  • I tried both the iOS and Android apps
  • Powered off and restarted my speakers
  • Attempted to connect via Ethernet (works temporarily, but I need them on Wi-Fi)

Has anyone else run into this after switching routers? Are there any steps I might be missing to get them reconnected wirelessly?

I really appreciate any help you can provide.

If you're having trouble connecting your Sonos system to Wi-Fi after changing your router, try connecting one primary Sonos device (like a Sonos One, Beam, or Playbar) directly to the new router using an Ethernet cable. Power it on and wait about 5 minutes to let it update network settings. Then unplug it and power on the rest of your Sonos speakers—they should automatically connect to the new network. To avoid issues in the future, use the same Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password as your old router. Factory reset is not necessary.

Which should work if you have several SonosNet speakers. But things have changed some, and if you have BLE speakers, they likely won’t work until you reset them with a factory reset.

You may want to refer to the new router - installation instructions FAQ. Or, tell us which Sonos devices you have, so we can be more specific.

The original answer might work…if by the term ‘unplug it’ means removing the Ethernet cable, and not powering it off.

The BLE speakers will change wifi settings, it’s the non-BLE speakers that need a reset.
