Hi @pmacess

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

I think the other users here are asking about your setup because the only speakers you have listed in your profile are incapable of playing PC audio by themselves. Therefore, in order to assist you, they need to know the details of all the Sonos products that you have, so they can get a clear picture of what was working for you before.

Due to data protection, I can’t mention what you have before you do, so please do clear things up for the others, but as Play:1s cannot play PC audio, you must have your PC connected to a third, as yet unmentioned, Sonos device, no? Then the audio played from it through your Play:1 speakers. This unmentioned device is currently offline, however - does it have a solid white light? If not, please ensure it is plugged into power. If it does have a white light, please try rebooting it by removing power for a moment.

I hope this helps.

Can you please provide more information:

Are you using the S1 app or the S2 app?

Did you upgrade to the new app?

Did you upgrade you computer to the new app?

What speakers do you have?

Are any of the speakers hardwire? Do you have a Bridge or Boost?

Hi @pmacess. I assume English is not your first language. So let me rephrase my questions:

What are the models of your Sonos speakers?

Is it just the Play 1 as in your profile or do you have more speakers in your system?

Do you also have a Bridge or Boost connected to your router?

Did the Sonos app on your computer also get updated, or did you only update the mobile app?

I had a stroke 3 years ago and I now find it difficult to write correctly but I am still ‘with it’ but I only use a computer to play my music using Sonos and Sonos speakers.

I'm so sorry to hear that you have health issues. Strokes are such a debilitating thing.

With the updates that sonos had done recently, there may be things you will need to do to get your system running again.Using the PC app is a good thing because it is more stable than the mobile app.

Are you able to unplug your router and sonos speakers for about 5 minutes?

Then first plug the router back in and allow it to fully boot.

Next plug the speaker back in. Check your computer to see if it finds the speaker again.

If I had to guess, I’d be assuming that @pmacess has their music on their PC and had used the Sonos Desktop Controller to setup the Sonos HTTP service? If that’s the case they’re going to need someone to guide them through the confusing non-working options that still remain, and to make sure that their music doesn’t reside on something like OneDrive before setting up a new network share from their PC and reconfiguring Sonos to access it.

Given that Sonos knew they were going to drop support, and previously thought that setting up sharing music from a PC/Mac warranted creating dedicated software to do this, I do find it somewhat unbelievable that the corporate answer to turning that off is effectively to do nothing and let users struggle to figure out what they should be doing… Why not replace the broken wizards with one that automates setting up a network share safely & securely?

Hi @Ian_S

Ah - I didn’t read it like that due to this thread being in the Sonos Products as PC Speakers section, but I see that could indeed be the case.

@pmacess - are you trying to play audio that your PC creates on your Sonos system, or are you trying play music that is stored on your PC on your Sonos system (Music Library)?
