Using Sonos Speakers as PC Audio Setup – Need Advice

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to use Sonos products as my main PC speakers and wanted some guidance from people who’ve tried it. I know Sonos is designed mainly for Wi-Fi streaming, but I’m curious about the best setup for desktop use.

I’d like to know:
– Which Sonos device works best for PC audio?
– How noticeable is the latency for videos or gaming?
– Is there any reliable workaround to reduce delay?
– Would a Sonos Amp or soundbar (Ray/Beam/Arc) be a better option?

Any recommendations or real-world experience would really help. Thanks!

I can't help, tried Sonos as computer speakers long ago and every option was horrid.

A nice set of powered speakers for the computer and Sonos for streaming was the good option here.

Start shopping here, good information and good people, buy wherever you like.

I use a Creative Sound Blaster Z SE to feed DTS Connect 5.1 audio to my Sonos Beam (Gen 1) plus surrounds and subwoofer mini via an optical cable using the Beam’s optical to HDMI dongle. If there’s any latency in the DTS Connect on-the-fly encoding, it’s not apparent to me. (The SB Z SE also supports Dolby Digital Live.)

I don’t watch much video on the PC but I don’t notice any lipsync issues when I do.

This is frankly not a cost-effective setup, and I likely wouldn’t have tried it if the Beam and a pair of Play:1s weren’t sitting on the shelf due to upgrades. But it was kinda cool to do and I like the results for gaming. Plus the soundbar format fits nicely on the desk without taking up horizontal space.
