Can a Sonos Connect Amp Gen 2 be used as desktop PC speakers anmd works well? I can easily buy a sound card with RCA line out for the Connect Amp’s RCA line in. I have a ageing Logitech 2.1 Z2300 speakers and certainly a Sonos should sound way better.

Assuming you can deal with the 75ms delay, and have a pair of third party speakers to connect to the Amp, certainly.

You mean there will be 75ms delay even with RCA line input?

Yes, the 75 ms delay is how Sonos operates, and is able to sync across multiple potential rooms. Digital inputs have much lower latency, but that is effective for only the room that the line input is in, as soon as you ‘group’ it with any other room, you must ‘pay’ that latency.

Fortunately, when streaming music, you would never know this, as there is no video to worry about.
