I know this has bene suggested before, but I don’t recall this particular use case mentioned just yet. This is not about setting up a PC to act as a Sonos room, or really to be able to play games or watches moves through your PC with Sonos speakers. It’s more about being able to use Sonos in a home office more practically.
A problem I run into whenever I need to work from home is that I can listen to Sonos speakers, but I must regularly pause the audio due to a Teams call, or some audio from the PC I need to listen to. This is really the issue I wish to resolve.
Ace headphones actually resolve this issue pretty well with bluetooth multipoint. Ace can be connected to my phone to play music, and to the PC for Teams calls. It automatically switches as needed, and switches back when a teams call ends. I would consider this for home use, but I would rather listen to speakers, and don’t need headphones/headset for teams while at home.
It would be ideal if speakers had some sort of multipoint feature where it plays wifi audio while connected to the PC (bluetooth) for audio content there. I don’t even really need PC audio to play on the speakers so much as the music stops playback automatically when audio plays on the PC.
While I’m thinking about it, I really would want the same feature of a multipoint connection to my phone. If I get a call on my phone, I want the music to stop on speakers automatically. This happens automatically in my car (whether using bluetooth audio from the phone or not), and has been a common feature for years. Why can’t I have that in my home?
Sonos has stated that they want to be the audio OS for your home. It feels like this feature is needed in order to really accomplish that.
That said, I understand that there would be complications when you factor in multiple PCs/phones in the home. I believe there have been custom solutions to this problem as well with mixed results. I still want it from Sonos though.
