Problem when streaming local radio

When I stream my local radio, sometimes it rewinds exactly 3 hours and I can hear earlier program. Shut down and restart the speaker, the streaming comes back to normal. What is the problem?

I will presume that you are not streaming the radio via your PC and then outputting to SONOS, but just using one of the Sonos radio, TuneIn Radio or other internet based radio channels.
Maybe consider finding the URL of the radio station you want to listen to and then adding that as your own music service in the Sonos settings. See if that helps.

In the Sonos app there is Sveriges Radio and I am streaming from that. There is the problem.

Hi Zita

I don’t speak Swedish so forgive my basic English response.

Are you using the TuneIn list of Radio Stations with Sonos?

You could try testing other streaming apps or websites to compare what the delay is. Also, are you listening from Sweden or a different country? I can foresee that trying to listen to a local station in a different country may have issues.

Try and search or work out what the IP or Web Address is for the Sveriges Radio internet stream, then add that manually to the Sonos App.

top tip, put a number like “01_” at the front of your radio station name when you save it, makes sure it is at the top of the list and easy to find.

Found this on Sonos website too, you might need to add the station to Sonos to get the specific local broadcast you want.

This is useful to check for internet delays or outages too.

I'm not using TuneIn and I'm living in Sweden. In the Sonos app on my cellphone, the are five stationapps: Sonos Radio, Spotify, Sveriges Radio, TuneIn and YouTube Music. In the Sveriges Radio stationapps there are lots of local stations. I always use my own local station to hear local news. I have three speakers in different rooms connected to Sonos. Just suddenly, it went back exactly three hours and I can hear program that was sent earlier. This is so strange. It must be a bug in the system. The problem occurred some months ago.

Edit.........

There is two groups of speakers. The problem can occur in one group but not in the other.

Hi. Then I would disconnect all the speaker pairs and groups you have. Test the local radio on each speaker 1 at a time. If it works without the 3hr delay then it’s a bug with Sonos somewhere. If the problem still exists it may be related to the IP address and DNS Gateway address of your broadband router/WiFi network at home. Check with your broadband provider for different DNS Gateway options you can use.

I have had Sonos for over 10 years and occasionally get odd things happening. Speaker Pairs dropping off overnight for no reason, streaming radio stops playing randomly, the app last played list’s completely disappears. Etc etc. the worst case I had to reset every speaker to factory default and rebuild from scratch. I also had 1 dodgy play 1 speaker once that failed within extended warranty period. But whilst connected it messed up other room from working. I’ve even had to go back to basics and plug at least 1 (2 now) speakers into the wired Ethernet connection to ensure a stable connection then add Sonos Net WiFi speakers to the system after that. I also have a PC and an iMac running the Sonos App, so I always have full control of the system too.
You need patience and a problem solving approach.

If all else fails, take snapshots of the system config settings and send them to Sonos support  and let them help.
IP based network broadcasting, whilst it should be specific as there should only be 1x IP address in the world doing it, still relies on many component parts along the way, each needing 100% accuracy and setup that us, as consumers, don’t get to influence. So we have to work around it. Even if that means putting in some effort and time to change or re do the whole step again. Go for it.  You’ve got nothing to lose and might learn something different about your system along the way.
Good luck

Thank you for all help with ideas. I have to test them to see what's wrong. When I started upp my system 3 years ago, I had so many problems to get the system working. But after s few months it worked well. Until now, a month ago.

Thanks anyway.

It never stays the same, it will work well for a while then an update or some other combination of things that you’ll never know what they are, will affect your setup. Always revert back to basics and reset your system before thinking it’s crap! It’s IT. There would not be so many IT jobs out there if it worked all the time!
Break the stereo pairs first. Test individual speakers. Then re configure stereo pairs. If still not working factory reset everything. Good luck.
