How to remove current ‘TV Audio’

Forum|alt.badge.img

I have my Playbar connected through its optical connector to an analog/digital converter which connects via Bluetooth or the headphone jack of my iMac. Both of the latter connections used to work in that sound was channelled through the Playbar with the Sonos App on my iPhone showing the output as ‘PCM Stereo’. However, recently it has stopped working with the Sonos App showing the output as SPDIF. Even when I disconnect the optical connection to the Playbar the Sonos App still declaims ‘SPDIF’. I want to return my set up to working order. Any help much appreciated.

Hi @MstaggieM

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear of the issue you were having.

In case you have not tried this functionality in a while, all Sonos products should now be able to play from an optical input.

If you are still having this problem, please ensure your Sonos system is up to date: Settings icon » Manage » System Updates » Check for Updates

I hope this helps.

The S/PDIF is just the connection interface rather than the type of audio. My connection to my TV for example shows as HDMI. So it’s likely going to be a different issue. Maybe try power-cycling all your products in the setup and see if that resolves the issue, (that’s if not tried already).

If the issues do persist after that then it maybe best to first reproduce the issue, then immediately submit a Sonos system diagnostic report from within the Sonos App, note it’s reference and then contact/chat with Sonos Support via this LINK to discuss the matter in detail and see what the Staff can perhaps then suggest to resolve the matter.

See my reply above and if no joy, use the link in that post to speak with Sonos Support.

The new mobile app has a habit of showing SPDIF (or HDMI) instead of the codec type for some reason for TV audio. You can still determine the codec type by other means.

Why is your Playbar useless, exactly? The OP is reporting a display problem in the app. Suggest you open a new thread for whatever your issue is.
