IT performance is severely lacking for such a premium brand.
Why is there no integration of computers through the desktop app? Surely it's connected through the WIFI mesh system exactly the same as the TV? This seems like a basic oversight for the gaming community. Why should I need workarounds?
Sonos was not designed to be a computer speaker system. The desktop app is for controlling your Sonos system it has nothing to do with the audio from a PC. The only reason I have found to use Sonos with a PC is if you want the audio from the PC to be shared on other Sonos devices. In those cases, a Sonos device with an optical input, PlayBar, PlayBase and Ray, work well. I have also used the HDMI input on the Amp with an optical to HDMI converter. This is the best way I have found to not have latency. Analog input will have a minimum of 75msec delay. Bluetooth and Airplay also have delay.
Because Sonos doesn’t make PC speakers? They’re specifically marketed as a whole home audio system, and not a PC speaker, since that market is fairly well saturated?
And that doesn’t even cover the need that Sonos has to comply with simple physics in maintaining room to room syncing.
If you want computer speakers, there are a lot of fine choices. If you want music throughout your home, Sonos is a good choice.
You might as well ask why your A/V receiver doesn’t connect to your computer, or your desktop radio, or your turntable. Sonos is audio equipment, not computer equipment. If you want computer speakers, buy computer speakers,
